Press Release – 

On Friday, May 22nd the Washington County Board of Supervisors completed their application phase for the Board Appointment to fill the vacant seat in the Monroe District.  The seven applicants listed below were all certified as qualified voters in the Election District D (Monroe) by Voter Registrar Derek N. Lyall.  At tonight’s board Meeting, each applicant will have the opportunity to address the Board of Supervisors during an advertised Public Hearing starting at 6:30 pm in the Government Center.  Each applicant will be given 5 minutes to speak.  Following the Public Hearing, the Board will enter a Closed Session to review each applicant and develop a short-list of candidates for interview.  The selected candidates will be interviewed by the Board in a closed session, during a recess meeting on June 2, 2026, at 6:30 pm.  The Board is under a short timeline per state code, to make an appointment within 45 days of the vacancy of the Board seat. Copies of the candidates’ applications for appointment are posted below for public review.  The Special Election for the Monroe seat will be added to the General Election for November 3, 2026.
