The County of Washington, Virginia is accepting applications for the following part-time positions within our Emergency Management Services Department:
- Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Technician (ALS-EMT)-Paramedic and Driver
Under the supervision of the Emergency Management Coordinator, engages in the provision of basic and advanced life support pre-hospital care activities. Serves as part of the County’s emergency medical services system responding to the scene of medical or trauma emergencies upon dispatch by the County’s 911 center. Works as part of an emergency response team which may include other career or volunteer providers (EMT-Basic or ALS). Assesses patient status and provides the appropriate care within scope of practice. Acts as attendant in charge during the transport of patients of all ages to an appropriate medical facility. Prepares and maintains files and records. Maintains equipment and vehicles. - Firefighter
Under the supervision of the Emergency Management Coordinator, performs protective services work responding to fires and emergency medical services calls as needed, performing fire suppression/EMS assistance, maintains station and equipment and participates in continuing training. Supports and promotes the mission of the EMS Department. Employees may be subject to the usual hazards of emergency response work. Work is performed as part of an emergency response team which may include other career or volunteer providers and under supervision of the current command structure. Maintains equipment and vehicles.
