WASHINGTON COUNTY, VIRGINIA PUBLIC HEARINGS

Public hearings will be held on the following proposed ordinance by the Washington County, Virginia Planning Commission on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard to obtain the Commission recommendation and by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as may be heard for the Board decision whether to adopt the ordinance. Both hearings will be held in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium at the County Government Center, Suite A; 1 Government Center Place; Abingdon, Virginia 24210.

Ordinance to revise the Code of the County of Washington, Virginia (2002, as amended) by addition of new sections 2-3 and 66-1246 and revision of sections 66-1241, 66-1242, and 66-1245 to establish general rules for surety when required by the County and to establish requirements for decommissioning agreement and surety for solar projects. Adoption of the ordinance would standardize surety requirements for all County programs that require surety. Adoption of the ordinance also would establish requirements for owners of large solar energy project to provide decommissioning surety and to enter into an agreement with the County for completion of decommissioning upon termination of use of large solar energy projects.

Public hearings will be held on the following proposed ordinances by the Washington County, Virginia, Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as may be heard in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium at the County Government Center, Suite A; 1 Government Center Place; Abingdon, Virginia 24210.

Ordinance to amend Chapter 22, Article II (Sections 22-32(b)(1), 22-32(b)(2)(b), 22-32(h)(1), and 22-32(h)(2)(b)) of the Code of the County of Washington, Virginia, to revise election district boundaries for Election Districts A and G for election of members of the Board of Supervisors and School Board and to revise the West Abingdon/John Battle Voting Precinct Boundary in Election Districts A and G due to revision of Providence Road location. Adoption of the ordinance would change the boundary descriptions for the portion of the above-described boundaries affected by recent re-routing of a portion of Providence Road (S.R. 611). Adoption of the ordinance would not change the election district or polling place for any residences.
Ordinance to revise the Code of the County of Washington, Virginia (2002, as amended) by addition of new Article V in Chapter 18 to establish a registration requirement for short-term rental properties. Adoption of the ordinance would establish a requirement that properties offered for rental for lodging for stays less than 30 consecutive days must register with the Commissioner of Revenue.
