WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE-Shelter Supervisor

DUTIES: Operates the County Animal Shelter. Ensures the caring for and feeding of animals at the Shelter. Ensure that the facilities are kept clean, sanitary, and orderly in accordance with state regulations. Work is performed with some degree of latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and action. Problems encountered are generally routine but can sometimes be more complex in nature. The work may involve moderate physical effort and some personal risk. A.S. Supervisor is directly responsible in the chain of command to Chief Animal Control Sergeant.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Veterinary Technician skills and willing to perform work requiring moderate physical effort. Ability to follow oral or written instructions and work unsupervised. General knowledge of safe handling techniques, feeding, and general welfare of domestic animals. Interest in animals, and understanding of their proper treatment. Ability to work well with the public (conflict resolution skills are particularly valuable.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be at least 21 years of age. Education equivalent to completion of high school. Must have good math skills. One (1) year of clerical experience is recommended. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Salary $42,500 + DOE
