INVITATION FOR BIDS MENDOTA TRAIL GORGE TRESTLES PROJECT

The County of Washington, Virginia is currently accepting sealed bids from qualified Contractors for the Mendota Trail Gorge Trestles Project.  The scope of work for this project will include the infrastructure restoration of up to five railroad trestles.  Upon completion of infrastructure; decking, posts, railing, and approaches will be added to allow the trestle to be used for hiking and biking.  The location of this work will be in a remote area of the Mendota Trail called the gorge near the community of Phillips in Washington County, Virginia.  Access to the trestles is via the linear trail.

A non-mandatory, but strongly recommended, meeting and pre-bid walk-through will be held, on November 12, 2021, convening at the Mendota Community Center; 2562 Mendota Road, Mendota, VA  24270; at 10:00 am.

Sealed bids will be accepted until 2:00 p.m., on December 1, 2021.  Bids must be made using specified bid forms, and may be mailed or delivered to the Washington County Government Center Building; Department of Budget & Finance; 1 Government Center Place, Suite A; Abingdon, Virginia 24210.  For personal delivery of bid form and references, please call (276) 525-1300 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to schedule a time for delivery.  Bids received after the deadline, postmarks notwithstanding, shall be rejected.  The County reserves the right to reject any and all bids. A public bid opening will be held in the Executive Conference Room, Government Center Building, 1 Government Center Place, Abingdon, Virginia 24210, at 2:00p.m., December 1, 2021, or as soon thereafter as may be held.
