Washington County, Virginia is currently accepting sealed bids from qualified vendors to provide 24 hour/7 day per week 9-1-1 Advanced Life Support (ALS) & Basic Life Support (BLS) emergency medical transportation service as the 1st due agency in the geographic service area shown on the map provided herewith. The bidder must have a permit issued by the Washington County Board of Supervisors to operate an emergency medical service vehicle in the county or may be a duly licensed volunteer provider in the county. The bidder must at all times have radio communication with Washington County Central Dispatch and will be required at all times to station an emergency medical service vehicle within the response area. Contract services will commence from the date of award of contract as soon as possible and extend thereafter on a month-to-month basis. The contractor may recover and retain insurance proceeds for calls. Contractor shall serve as an independent contractor and not in an agency or employee capacity for the County. Calls for service within the designated service area for the past 33 months are: 2015 – 1,210 2016 – 1,236 2017 – 955 (1/1/2017 – 9/30/2017) Sealed BIDS must be received no later than: 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017 Bids should be made using the bid form provided by the County and directed to Kendall Williams, Deputy Director of Budget & Finance; Department of Budget and Finance; Washington County Government Building, Suite A; Abingdon, Virginia 24210. Two copies of the Bid must be submitted in a sealed package marked on the outside with the vendor’s name and address, and clearly marked: “BID FOR EMS SERVICES”. No faxed bid or electronic media responses will be accepted. Bids must be signed in ink by an official authorized to bind the vendor. Bids received after the deadline, postmarks notwithstanding, shall be rejected.
