Virginia Tobacco Commission announces pharmaceutical company expansion in Washington County.  Company to invest $2.5 million and create 18 new jobs.

Sheriff's Office Receives Grant

The Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Office has been approved for a grant award in the amount of $13,631. According to Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman, the funding for the non-local match grant was provided under the FY 09 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.

"Our Sheriff’s Office is very dependant on grant funding to help purchase law enforcement equipment to furnish our deputies with the technology needed to provide a greater range of services to our county citizens," said Sheriff Newman.

The grant will be used to purchase in-car cameras for Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicles and other law enforcement related equipment.
