|Magistrate (28th Judicial District)|
Magistrates provide an independent and unbiased review of complaints brought to their Office by citizens and law enforcement officers in order to determine probable cause prior to issuance of criminal or civil process. Magistrates are judicial officers of the Commonwealth of Virginia and are specially trained to perform duties such as arrest warrants, search warrants, subpoenas, emergency protective orders, and setting conditions of bail. Magistrates also assist the public by providing information on the judicial system process and procedures.
